DAIRY – LARGE PRODUCER
GOLD – Vintage Welsh Cheddar
Named after one of the greatest Welsh saints from the 6th century, who was apparently a successful dairy farmer, Cadog is a popular cheese, recognised throughout the country.
Cadog was launched in February 2004 and is produced by the Welsh farmer members of the UK's leading dairy farmers’ cooperative, Milk Link. But creating high-qualtiy cheese does not happen overnight. Specialists at the Llandyrnog Dairy have invested time and patience into the cheese-making process, from scalding the milk to milling the curds and whey.
The Cadog Vintage Cheddar has been christened the 'King' of the Cadog range, and of course, publicly crowned by winning the True Taste award. Using a traditional recipe, the cheese is developed over 18 months of controlled maturation, resulting in a premium cheddar with a powerful and distinctive flavour.
Alan Roberts, Operations Manager, said: “We could not be more thrilled that the quality of our cheese has been recognised at these prestigious awards. Of course, we would not enjoy any of the success without the expertise of out dedicated workforce at our Llandyrnog Creamery in north Wales”.
