Like his forefathers, Glyn Phillips has fished the sea around Pembrokeshire.

His catch – Pembrokeshire crabs – sell as far away as Europe and the Far East. But he has formed a new company together with his partner, Diana White, Celtic Crab Products, in a bid to sell and promote his top quality dressed crab and crab meat to the Welsh market. The products are hand processed, and after being caught, they are steamed rather than boiled, as this improves the flavour. In addition, the strong tide on the Pembrokeshire coast ensures that the meat, which is supplied to a number of top restaurants and fishmongers, is of better quality and taste.

The company is looking to expand its operation, and has plans to expand its range of crab products. Glyn’s eldest sons have now taken to the seas, and are the fifth generation to do so, securing family tradition and indeed the future of the business. Diana White, Company Secretary/Partner, said “We are proud to receive this award. We feel that it will aid our future success.

“We are shortly moving to a purpose built unit at Food Centre Wales, where we will be adding to our list of products and we hope to be entering these products in next year’s competition.”
