Aberystwyth University’s Hospitality Services has been working as hard as its students these days, developing and securing a sustainable system, that has paid its way.
The Hospitality Services team provides a wide range of catering services for students and visitors at Aberystwyth University, as well as managing a range of campus restaurants, cafés and snack outlets and an accomplished conference and events service. And thanks to a total of ten research farms in total, covering 2,500 acres of farmland, over 90% of all the meat and vegetables served at the University’s restaurants is now sourced from its these farms and other local suppliers.
They have also been awarded Ceredigon Heartbeat Award, as the main restaurants Chefs have been trained in Nutrition, dietary requirements and salt reduction from the diet
Kevan Downing, head of hospitality services, said, “To win this award after winning another award last year marks an important milestone for the Hospitality Team at Aberystwyth University.“It rewards the continued efforts of every member of the Hospitality Team to maintain the high standards that we set ourselves, and the hard work that has been done to make quality local produce available to students, staff and visitors at the University”.
