About the Awards

We’ve always known that Wales boasts some of the best produce in the world but in 2002 it became official, when the very first Wales The True Taste Awards burst onto the scene.
150 entries produced 36 winners in the first year – the first wave of producers, manufacturers and restaurant owners to receive the True Taste seal of approval and mark of authenticity, purity and quality.
Nine years later, thousands of entries have produced hundreds of winners that have gone on to build on their success and supply their products to the UK’s biggest retailers and brought pleasure to millions of consumers, in Wales, UK and overseas markets.
The Awards continue to make an impact, with over half of Welsh food and drink companies entering products last year to the 2010 - 2011 Awards. Gold awards were given out for Teifi cheese and Cardigan Bay sea bass, while some of Wales’s finest restaurants and farmers markets also got in on the act.
